Welcome to École Heritage Park Middle School! It is an honour to work with the families in our school community.
I have been an educator in the Mission Public School District since 1989. I have taught all levels of education from Kindergarten to Grade 12. I have been an administrator since 2007 at the elementary, middle and secondary level. This is my third year as principal of École Heritage Park Middle School. I am proud of the inclusive and caring community our staff and students have created since we reconfigured into a middle school in 2015.
Our staff are dedicated to preparing our students to transition successfully to the secondary level and become responsible citizens in the greater community.
Please feel free to contact me at any time to find out more about how we support our learners.

Ey Swayel, bonjour and hello! It has beeen a great start to my second year here at École Heritage Park Middle School. We have many more exciting events planned as the year progresses and I am very enthusistic to be part of such an amazing school community!
To give a little background on myself, I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Simon Fraser University. I pursued my Bachelor of Education through the University of British Columbia. I believe strongly in life-long learning and completed my Masters of Education in Leadership and Administration, with a partial focus in counseling, through Gonzaga University.
I have a wide variety and depth of both teaching and administrating experiences that span from Kindergarten to grade 12. I have also taught both internationally and locally. My experiences in almost five years of educational administration span from elementary to junior secondary as both vice principal and principal.
My mission as an educational leader is to help students towards being industrious, confident and creative builders of their futures. My vision is on developing the whole student so that they can become well balanced, healthy individuals, who will contribute positively both inside and outside of our community walls. To achieve this, I promote physical activity, emotional well-being, proper diet and a strong sense of belonging.
My leadership philosophy focuses on creating an educational environment that promotes integrated approaches that cross disciplines and traditional grade levels. I strive to facilitate an educational environment that helps students meet academic challenges with an openness to taking risks with enthusiasm, while learning to solve problems strategically. I strive to support the development of children who are thoughtful individuals that actively contribute a sense of community and compassion for all.
I aim to have an open door policy. Please do not hesitate to contact me anytime with any questions you may have. I wish everyone a fantastic 2018-2019 school year!
